Are you an adult looking to get a GREAT JOB either through a college degree or job training? We offer tuition-free job training and up to $50,000 in college scholarships to adults.

Great Jobs KC Tuition-Free Job Training Program

Enrollment accepted year-round

Program offers:

  • Most Training Programs can be completed in less than 12 months 
  • In-Person Essential Skills Workshops 
  • Employment Assistance upon completion of program 
  • Scholar Support Resources & Referrals 
  • Occupational Skills Training in the following high-demand industries:

    -Healthcare
    -IT
    -Manufacturing
    -Construction
    -Logistics & Warehousing
    -Service Careers 

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • 17 years or older (within 6 months of high school graduation)
  • Earning 45k or Less 
  • Must reside in one of the following 6 counties – (Kansas:  Johnson and Wyandotte Counties; Missouri:  Cass, Clay, Jackson and Platte Counties)

Adult Learner College Scholarship

The 2023 Adult Learner Scholarship application window is November 14, 2023 through December 14, 2023.

Program offers:

  • Up to $50,000 paid directly to the college over the course of up to six years
  • Once awarded, the Scholar can enroll full or part-time the fall semester following awarding
  • Scholarship can be used at any of our college partners. See our current list of partners HERE
  • Scholarship can be used towards an associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree, or a credit-bearing credential. 

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Be a high school graduate or GED holder (18 years or older)
  • Live in one of the six eligible counties (Kansas: Wyandotte, Johnson; Missouri: Cass, Clay, Jackson, Platte)
  • Be income eligible. (FASFA Student Aid Index of 12,000 or less)
  • Have not previously earned a bachelor’s degree
  • Have not previously been awarded a KC Scholars Scholarship (Traditional or Adult Learner)
  • Is not currently enrolled in a Great Jobs KC job training program.

Are you a high school student looking to go to college? We offer a college saving program for 9th-grade students and up to $50,000 in scholarship funds for 11th-grade students.

Traditional 11th Grade College Scholarship

THE 2024 TRADITIONAL SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION WINDOW WAS JANUARY 9, 2024, THROUGH FEBRUARY 23, 2024. THE NEXT APPLICATION CYCLE WILL OPEN JANUARY 9, 2025.

Program offers:

  • Up to $50,000 paid directly to the college over the course of up to six years
  • Once awarded, the scholar can enroll full-time the fall semester following on-time high school graduation
  • Access to Scholar Support Resources to assist with needs that may arise during college or the job search process. 

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Be a current 11th grader during the application cycle;
  • Be home-schooled or attend a public, charter, or private high school in the following six counties: Cass, Clay, Jackson and Platte (MO) or Johnson and Wyandotte (KS);
  • Have at least a 2.5 cumulative high school unweighted GPA (five semesters from 9th grade to the fall semester of 11th grade) or at least a 16 on the ACT or at least an 800 on the SAT); and
  • Be income eligible. (FASFA Student Aid Index of 12,000 or less)

9th Grade College Savings Match Program

THE 2024 COLLEGE SAVINGS MATCH APPLICATION WINDOW WAS JANUARY 9, 2024, THROUGH FEBRUARY 23, 2024. THE NEXT APPLICATION CYCLE WILL OPEN JANUARY 9, 2025.

Program offers:

  • Eligible to earn 1:1 match on college savings, not to exceed $1,000, and up to $400 available for achieving college-ready milestones during high school 
  • Up to 250 9th graders will be selected 
  • Match and incentive earnings will be paid directly to the college, in a one-time payment the first semester of college. 

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Be a current 9th grader during the application cycle
  • Be home-schooled or attend a public, charter, or private high school in the following counties: Cass, Clay, Jackson and Platte (MO) or Johnson and Wyandotte (KS)
  • Have at least a 2.5 cumulative unweighted GPA fall semester of 9th grade
  • Be income eligible (FAFSA Student Aid Index of 12,000 or less)
  • Be a United States citizen or resident alien with a verified permanent U.S. address and valid Social Security Number or other taxpayer identification number
  • Every 529 college savings account must have a designated account owner that is 18 years or older and a U.S Citizen or resident alien with a valid Social Security number or other taxpayer identification number
