Status: Exempt, Full-time

Salary: Annual salary based on experience

The goals of KC Scholars Scholarship Programs are:

  1. 96% scholarship program annual persistence rate.
  2. 90% scholarship program participant satisfaction rate.
  3. 80% scholarship program college completion rate within 5 years.
  4. 80% scholarship program college graduates achieve a salary of $45K

The goals for the High School Program Manager are:

  • Achieve 90% college enrollment rate for Fall term after high school graduation.
  • Achieve 90% orientation completion rate for College Savings Match, University-Sponsored, and Traditional Scholars by September 1of award year.
  • Increase the number of internship placements by 50% for Scholars prior to college enrollment.
  • Achieve customer satisfaction rating of at least 90% in semiannual surveys conducted with Scholars and their families.


The High School Program Manager position will report to the Director of High School Programs and will play a key role at KC Scholars. The Program Manager is responsible for developing processes/systems, communication, and college advising and persistence support related to our College Savings Match, University-Sponsored, and Traditional program components from point of application through high school graduation. The Manager supervises staff that provide support to College Savings Match, University-Sponsored, and Traditional Scholars in high school.


  • Serve as an active member of the Scholarship Team, contributing to strategic thinking and action and ensuring high-quality engagement and support for Scholars.
  • Develop strategic thinking and acting directly related to high school program scholarship components.
  • Analyze information and be strategically decisive regarding components of the College Savings Match, University-Sponsored, and Traditional Scholarship Program.
  • Develop and lead an effective team to support College Savings Match, University-Sponsored, and Traditional Scholars and their families, including collaboration with the College Team. Oversee the workflow and progress toward Great Jobs KC, Inc. and KC Scholars program achieving its benchmarks, outcomes, and goals.
  • Provide administrative oversight to ensure that 96% College Savings Match, University-Sponsored, and Traditional persist from acceptance to high school graduation including completing all necessary steps to remain eligible and in good standing as they progress toward high school completion. 
  • Lead college planning and advisement for College Savings Match, University-Sponsored, and Traditional Scholars, working closely with campuses to provide high-quality transition support as Scholars seamless college enrollment
  • Gather and analyze data related to scholar persistence, ongoing program eligibility and college enrollment for College Savings Match, University-Sponsored, and Traditional Scholars.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of support processes related to College Savings Match, University-Sponsored, and Traditional Scholars based on established KPI’s.
  • Oversee and administer collection of scholar feedback to make data informed decisions with focus on impact to scholars/program engagement.
  • Plan and administrate required orientation and workshops for College Savings Match, University-Sponsored, and Traditional Scholars.
  • Facilitate alignment with scholar advocates and partner secondary schools to ensure collaboration, address gaps or challenges, and ensure accurate communication to students.
  • Develop and lead an efficient and timely response process to inquiries, appeals, and communications from College Savings Match, University-Sponsored, and Traditional Scholars.
  • Collaborate on marketing and community outreach to prospective College Savings Match and Traditional scholarship applicants, in coordination with the overall marketing and outreach strategic plan.
  • Design and implement strong career development and experiences in collaboration with Internship Coordinator for Scholars through internship, job shadowing, and career explorations prior to college enrollment. 
  • Collaborate with GJKC Career Resource Managers and Employer Network teams to meet goal for 80% scholars graduate with skills, experiences, and resources to competitively enter the regional workforce with jobs earning $45K or higher.
  • Research, analyze, and communicate information as needed to demonstrate the impact of the College Savings Match, University-Sponsored, and Traditional program components.
  • Seek and incorporate effective regional resources which would be available to and support Scholars’ persistence and completion.
  • Provide KCS and college advising specific content for high school partner newsletters, overall program communication, and training.
  • Plan and administrate high school convenings and workshops for scholar advocates and partner high school staff.
  • Develop communication plan and activities to increase parent engagement in Scholars academic and college completion goals.
  • Identify and communicate process improvement efforts, when appropriate.
  • Attend meetings and events as needed, serving as a representative of Great Job KC, Inc. and KC Scholars program to external stakeholders.
  • Other related activities and duties as assigned.


  • An undergraduate degree is required, while an advanced degree is preferred.


  • A minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in complex college access and completion programs which support first-generation, low-income high school students to and through high school and college, including specific knowledge related to successful support strategies for college persistence and completion.

  • 2+ years of people management or leadership experience.

  • Deep command of knowledge and practice of the college application process, admissions eligibility, financial aid, academic requirements, college enrollment, and college persistence – specifically for students historically underrepresented in higher education.
  • Proven and successful experience collaborating with other organizations to achieve program goals.

  • Passion for increasing college access and college completion-especially among students who may be a first-generation student or who may be a member of a demographic group traditionally underrepresented in postsecondary institutions.

  • Ability to analyze data and recognize and articulate trends.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment with the ability to set and meet clear deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Power Point, and Excel).

Physical requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.
  • Ability to work in an office and remote environment.
  • Ability to travel from and to work and occasionally to regional sites as the organization grows.
  • Ability to interact with others via technology, face-to-face and collectively.
