Painters/Glaziers

What is it?

Painter:

  • Prepares surfaces: This involves cleaning, sanding, repairing minor imperfections, and applying primer or sealant to ensure the paint adheres properly.
  • Selects and mixes paints: Painters choose the right types of paint (e.g., latex, oil-based) and colors based on the surface, desired finish, and environmental conditions. They may also need to mix different colors or tints to achieve the exact shade required.
  • Applies paint using various tools and techniques: Painters use brushes, rollers, sprayers, and other tools to apply paint to walls, ceilings, trim, furniture, and other surfaces. They employ different techniques depending on the surface area, desired finish, and level of detail required.
  • Ensures a clean and professional finish: They pay close attention to detail to achieve smooth, even coverage and clean lines. This may involve applying multiple coats of paint, masking areas to avoid overspray, and touching up any imperfections.

Glazier:

  • Measures, cuts, and fits glass pieces: Glaziers use specialized tools to measure and cut various types of glass, such as tempered, laminated, or insulated glass, according to precise specifications. They ensure the glass pieces fit accurately within frames or openings.
  • Installs glass in various settings: This can involve installing windows, doors, shower doors, mirrors, storefronts, and other structures that require glass components.
  • Seals and glazes glass installations: They apply sealants and glazing compounds to ensure weatherproofing, airtightness, and stability of the installed glass.
  • May also repair or replace broken glass: Glaziers can repair cracked or broken glass in windows, doors, or other existing structures if feasible and safe to do so.
