Paying for College Felt Impossible — Until I Found This Life-Changing Program

Great Jobs KC

Kris is a Traditional Scholar at Great Jobs KC and is currently attending school at the University of Kansas.

I first heard about the KC Scholars Scholarship during my sophomore year of high school through my college counselor. I knew right away that this opportunity could significantly ease the financial pressure on my family when it came to paying for college. One of the biggest obstacles I faced was my own self-confidence. For a long time, I didn’t believe I was capable of achieving everything I’ve accomplished so far. Looking ahead, my goal is to finish my senior year of college strong and secure a full-time position at my current internship with Midwest Transplant Network. After gaining a few years of experience, I plan to return to school to earn my Doctorate in Clinical Laboratory Science (DCLS). This scholarship has truly meant the world to me. It has helped me move forward in my career without the constant stress of taking on large student loans.

I genuinely encourage anyone who’s eligible to apply for the KC Scholars program. It has the potential to change your life. Don’t let fear, self-doubt, or the fear of rejection hold you back. I know how easy it is to feel like you won’t stand out, but the truth is: you are worthy, and your dreams matter. Everyone deserves the chance to pursue higher education without the overwhelming stress of student debt. KC Scholars gave me that opportunity, and I’ll always be grateful. There are people out there who believe in your future!

One of my favorite memories is going bowling with KC Scholars in Lawrence. It was a fun and relaxed way to connect with others in the program and build community.
